Chaudhry brothers not required for no-trust move’s success: Abbasi

PML-N leader calls on finance minister to explain how petrol, electricity price reduction will decrease prices of goods

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has claimed that the no-confidence vote can succeed without the support of the Chaudhry brothers of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.

Speaking to media in Karachi, the former prime minister called on Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin to explain how the reduction in petrol and electricity prices announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan would decrease prices of goods in the country.

Speaking on the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party regarding the premier’s visit to Russia, Abbasi said that the government should announce what PM Khan actually achieved on his visit to Russia.

Earlier during the day, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that tabling a no-confidence could shake the foundations of the country.

Speaking with media, the interior minister said that the government had announced a package for the benefit of the public for the first time in its 3.5-year-long tenure. He lamented the fact that questions were raised whenever the government announced something for the poor people of the country.

He also touched upon the long march being held by Pakistan People’s Party, saying that the march would be allowed to reach the capital. The interior minister, however, suggested that the opposition party should change its dates from March 23.
