Islamabad Police granted authority to combat smuggling, Interior Minister announces

In a significant move, the Ministry of Interior has empowered Islamabad Police to take action against smuggling under the Customs Act.

This decision was communicated to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman by the Ministry of Interior.

It’s worth noting that Rangers, Coast Guards, and Frontier Constabulary (FC) already possess these powers.

Furthermore, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has been authorized to confiscate non-customs vehicles.

In related news, Prime Minister expresses gratitude to Army Chief Gen Asim Munir for aiding in the eradication of smuggling.

Pakistan Army has paid homage to eight customs officials who lost their lives in the line of duty in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in two separate incidents in April 2024.

A statement issued by a Pakistan Army spokesperson highlights the recognition of their sacrifices and solidarity shown towards the martyrs’ families by senior army commanders.

The families expressed their appreciation for the Army’s support and reverence.

The statement emphasizes that martyrs and veterans are a source of pride for the nation, and their respect and honor are paramount.

It further underscores the nation’s indebtedness to these brave individuals for their sacrifices, which have contributed to the peace and freedom enjoyed by Pakistan today.
