Senator Taj Haider announces contempt of court action against CDA over Islamabad Tennis Complex operation

Senator Taj Haider, a prominent figure in the Pakistan People’s Party, has declared his intent to pursue contempt of court proceedings against the Capital Development Authority (CDA) following an operation at the Islamabad Tennis Complex, which he alleges was conducted under a conspiracy.

Expressing deep dismay, Senator Haider lamented that decades of dedicated work in the realm of sports were squandered in a mere half-hour.

Addressing the media alongside Syed Sabat Haider at the People’s Party Central Secretariat, Senator Taj Haider underscored the significance of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed tennis tournament, a longstanding event held at the Islamabad Tennis Complex. He voiced grave reservations regarding the CDA’s intervention, particularly in light of a prior agreement with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The sudden operation, Senator Haider emphasized, not only violated the sanctity of the court’s order but also disrupted the complex’s sporting legacy, built over three decades of hard work. Vowing to take legal action against the CDA for contempt of court, Senator Haider asserted that Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was fully briefed on the matter.

Adding to the discourse, People’s Party leader Syed Sabat Bukhari highlighted the international significance of the Islamabad Tennis Complex, which regularly hosted foreign players and received visits from representatives of the International Tennis Federation.
