Cillian Murphy missing from 28 Years Later movie cast

Cillian Murphy’s absence from the cast of “28 Years Later” has been noted, as Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes are set to lead the movie.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures will release the third installment of the franchise that began with “28 Days Later” in 2002, starring Murphy, who was then not as well-known.

The original film was directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, with a sequel titled “28 Weeks Later” released in 2007.

“28 Years Later” is slated to kick off a trilogy following the events of the first two films, set in a post-apocalyptic version of the United Kingdom plagued by a virus that turns people into zombies.

Boyle and Garland are reportedly producing the new film, with Murphy returning as an executive producer.

Nia DaCosta is in talks to direct the second movie of the trilogy.

Murphy’s most recent project was “Oppenheimer,” which received widespread acclaim at the Oscars, winning seven awards including Best Picture and Best Director for Christopher Nolan.

Murphy himself won the acting prize, while Robert Downey Jr. took home the award for Best Supporting Actor.

Reflecting on his future roles, Murphy expressed openness to playing Ken in a potential sequel to “Barbie,” jokingly suggesting the film could be titled “Barbenheimer,” where he would portray Mattel’s iconic male doll opposite Barbie.
