Cillian Murphy to return as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders movie, sources confirm

International media sources reported that Cillian Murphy, who recently won the Best Actor Oscar, will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, as announced by creator Stephen Knight. Knight confirmed Murphy’s return, stating that filming is scheduled for September.

The acclaimed British crime drama, loosely based on the post-World War I Birmingham gang, aired for six seasons from 2013 to 2022.

Initially airing on BBC Two and later BBC One, its popularity soared after being available on Netflix. Murphy had expressed interest in revisiting Tommy Shelby for a film back in 2022, with Knight also keen on the idea.

Following the series finale, Knight has been vocal about his plans for a film continuation. He described it as “the end of the beginning,” emphasizing future spinoffs within the same universe. With Murphy reprising his iconic role, fans eagerly anticipate the cinematic treat that awaits.
