Consumers to benefit from reduced electricity bills for May

Consumers are set to receive relief in their electricity bills for May, with a significant reduction of Rs4.12 per unit compared to March.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Power Division on Tuesday, a petition has been filed with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to lower the fuel cost adjustment from Rs4.92 per unit to Rs2.94 per unit for May, compared to April.

The statement also noted that the power tariff for April had been reduced from Rs7.6 per unit to Rs4.92 per unit, in comparison to March.

The government’s continuous efforts have led to the submission of a request for reduced electricity bills to NEPRA for the third consecutive month, the statement added.

Minister for Power Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari assured that the benefits of the reduction in fuel prices would be passed on to the people.
