Discovery of remains of world’s largest snake millions of years old

New Delhi: Scientists have discovered the remains of the world’s largest snake believed to be around 47 million years old.

According to reports from Indian media, these snakes were found centuries ago in the Gujrat region of India referred to in Hindu religion as Vasuki hence named the Vasuki Index.

The remains of the world’s largest snake were discovered by experts from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) as reported in the journal Scientific Report.

The discovered snake measures between 10 to 15 meters in length and dates back 47 million years. These snakes existed at a time when the world was vastly different from today’s world. The length of these snakes is being compared to the size of Titanoboa.
