Don’t want to burden common man, but IMF wants something else: Minister of State for Finance

Minister of State for Finance Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said that the government wants to revive the IMF program and the government wants to not burden the common man much, but the IMF wants something else.

Briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said, “There is an extraordinary situation in Pakistan at the moment and we have to find a solution to the problem facing the country together, do not expect that business will run as usual as before, we are currently running in crisis, the way we are running, it cannot run, everyone talks about saving their constituency. It is not Pakistan alone, but other countries are also in trouble.”

The Minister of State said that the LCs of the food, energy, pharma, export industry, and agriculture sector should not be stopped, the SBP is saying that banks are being closely monitored and banks are bound to open LCs of essential sectors.

Ayesha Ghaus Pasha further said we are worried but we have plans, we are engaging the IMF, they are monitoring institutions from where the dollars will come, do not think that the government does not know anything, the government knows everything, and do not say that we did not manage the crisis.
