Chief of Naval Staff attends 19th western pacific naval symposium in China

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf recently attended the 19th Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) in Qingdao, China, where he delivered a speech on maritime security cooperation and international law alongside counterparts from the French and Royal Thai Navy. The symposium, themed “Oceans with a Shared Future,” gathered naval heads and representatives from various countries worldwide.

During the event, bilateral meetings were held between Admiral Naveed Ashraf and naval leaders of WPNS member states and observer nations. He engaged with key figures such as the Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, the First Sea Lord & Chief of Naval Staff of the Royal Navy, and other naval chiefs to discuss mutual interests.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf acknowledged Pakistan Navy’s role in regional maritime security and advocated for collaborative efforts among navies to strengthen regional stability.

Additionally, he stated the importance of Western Pacific nations working together to leverage the potential of the Blue Economy.

Pakistan Navy, having joined WPNS as an observer in 2014, actively participates in the symposium to foster cooperation among nations for regional peace and maritime security.

The visit of Chief of the Naval Staff is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation with participating navies, further contributing to regional and global maritime security efforts.
