Islamabad : In a major bureaucratic reshuffle amid imposition of Emergency and Governor’s Rule, the Federal Government has changed the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Muhammad Fakhare Alam Irfan, BS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), presently posted as Secretary Power Division, has been transferred and posted as Chief Secretary, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with immediate effect and until further orders.

Dr. Fakhare Alam Irfan is one of the senior-most Grade 22 officers, known for his administrative experience in sensitive postings. As Secretary Power Division, he handled critical energy sector affairs.
The change comes hours after President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary under Articles 232 and 234 to impose Emergency and Governor Rule in KP, on advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The new Chief Secretary will work directly under Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, who has assumed executive authority over the province uniformly.
He will head the civil administration as the Governor’s Cabinet comprising 11 members led by Samar Haroon Bilour and the ADC Secretariat take charge.
Outgoing Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah was considered close to PTI government of CM Sohail Khan Afridi.
Dr. Fakhare Alam Irfan is expected to assume charge in Peshawar tonight.
