PCB appoints Faisal Hasnain as chief executive

New chief executive to formally take charge in January 2022

After a strong hiring procedure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declared today that it had hired Faisal Hasnain as its latest chief executive, who would begin his job early next year.

Hasnain is a chartered accountant by profession, having completed his studies from the UK followed by a service of over 35 years in top finance and sports management responsibilities in a few of the most well-established companies globally, including responsibilities as financial heads with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Europe and the Middle East and the management head at Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC).

As the top finance official at the ICC, Hasnain took care of a billion-dollar portfolio and was also concerned with a few high-profile financial deals. In Harare, he helped broker ZC’s financing and status deal with the ICC and also played a role in brokering the right of the African country to host their first international cricket event in more than a decade in 2018.

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja expressed happiness at Hasnain’s hiring and welcomed him as a part of the PCB.

He further highlighted that Faisal was not a new entrant to the cricket scene and was well-respected and valued for his professional accomplishments in management and corporate judgement. Hasnain’s arrival would neatly dovetail with the existing projects of the PCB which would assist in making Pakistani cricket robust and with greater scope, he added.

Moreover, Hasnain has said that he would welcome the unique opportunity to play a role in developing cricket in Pakistan. He talked about his sincerity in helping implementing Raja’s future plans for PCB, and to be true to the hopes of countless Pakistani fans of the sport, along with reinforcing existing ties with the PCB’s financial stakeholders, the Cricket Boards of other countries and creating new stakeholders.

He concluded by saying that he hoped to improve the name and fame of PCB in his new role.

“I am fully committed to playing my part in delivering the PCB Chairman’s vision for Pakistan cricket, fulfilling the expectations and dreams of millions of passionate Pakistan cricket fans and strengthening the relationships with our existing commercial partners, the ICC and other Cricket Boards and developing new partnerships as we move forward,” he added.

“These are highly exciting times in Pakistan cricket and I look forward to working very closely with my colleagues at the PCB so that we can collectively further enhance the image, reputation and profile of this great institution,” he stated.
