In a big effort to stop fake and untaxed cigarettes, teams from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently did 429 surprise visits all over the country. They seized about 16 million fake and untaxed cigarette sticks. The FBR Chairman, Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, told the teams to do this.
Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, who is in charge of tax operations, supervised the whole thing. He said that catching so many fake cigarettes sends a clear message to people who try to avoid paying taxes.
He promised to keep fighting this issue until it’s solved. In the next part of the plan, they will start legal action against the people doing this illegal stuff.
