LAYYAH: PML-N MPA Samia Atta Shahani, elected on a reserved seat, has accused the Layyah district administration of mistreatment during the Thal Jeep Rally and has called upon Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take notice of the incident.

In a statement posted on social media, Ms Shahani said she was denied a designated seat on the official stage despite being a public representative. She termed the behaviour of the administration “disappointing” and said it amounted to a violation of her parliamentary privilege.

According to sources, the seat allocated to the MPA was allegedly occupied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), while dry fruits were placed in the middle of the row, leaving no space for her to sit. Following the incident, Ms Shahani left the venue in protest.

The MPA urged the party leadership to initiate an inquiry into the matter and take action against those responsible.

The district administration has not yet issued its version of the events.
