Global WhatsApp outage gets resolved after one hour

WhatsApp experienced an hour-long outage that affected thousands of users worldwide, including Pakistan, as reported by the outage tracking website Downdetector.com. The messaging app’s parent company, Meta Platforms, swiftly resolved the connectivity problems that were preventing users from accessing the service.

In response to the disruption, the Whatsapp Twitter account posted a reassuring message, stating, “We’re back, happy chatting!”

Earlier, Meta’s status dashboard had acknowledged the issues, specifically related to receiving incoming messages and message delivery on WhatsApp.

The outage occurred around 1:00 am in Pakistan, leaving users unable to utilize the app for at least an hour, according to Downdetector.com. Approximately 6,000 users filed complaints on the tracking website, which collects status reports from various sources, including user-submitted errors.

The outage was not limited to Pakistan, with many users in other countries also experiencing problems. In the United Kingdom, over 177,000 users reported issues with WhatsApp, while 37,000 users in the US and nearly 15,000 users in India faced difficulties with the messaging app.

Fortunately, Meta Platforms acted swiftly, and the service was eventually restored, allowing users to resume their conversations and interactions on WhatsApp without any further disruptions.

The incident highlights the widespread reliance on messaging apps like WhatsApp for communication and the importance of promptly addressing technical issues to minimize disruptions for users worldwide.
