Imaan Mazari’s bail plea deferred till August 28

The bail plea of Iman Mazari has been deferred till August 28.

Imaan Mazari, a human rights activist who was detained in connection with a sedition case, has had his post-arrest bail request heard by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad postponed.

The hearing on Saturday was adjourned without action. Due to Judge Zulqarnain Haider’s absence, ATC duty judge Raja Jawad Abbas heard the petition.

Shireen Mazari, the mother of Imaan, showed up in court beside her solicitors.

Imaan was detained at Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial detention by the Islamabad ATC in connection with a sedition charge involving the contentious speech against government institutions.

Imaan Mazari was detained on August 20 after the activist reported suspected intruders breaking into her house on social networking site X. Ali Wazir, a PTM MNA, was also detained.

Both were detained on suspicion of sedition, interfering with the performance of government functions, and causing damage to public property.
