Imran Khan aims for ‘revolution against institutions’, claims Parvez Khattak

Parvez Khattak, leader of a faction that split from the PTI after separating from Imran Khan’s party, PTI-Parliamentarians (PTI-P), alleged on Saturday that the former Prime Minister has a goal of “Instigating a revolution against institutions”.

During a media talk in Peshawar, the founder of (PTI-P) made this assertion while leveling a series of accusations against the PTI leader.

Khattak claimed that when Imran held power, he lacked a coherent strategy to address the nation’s challenges, resorting to instructing others to manipulate the truth until it resembled reality.

In July, PTI terminated Khattak’s basic party membership, alleging that he incited members to leave the party without responding satisfactorily to a show-cause notice.

Khattak stepped down as the president of PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter after the May 9 incident, which involved protests and attacks on installations following Imran’s arrest in a corruption case.

He acknowledged that former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, whom Imran accused of conspiring against him, supported PTI during his tenure.

Ex-army chief Bajwa “supported us a great deal but in the end, he too gave up and said he cannot do more.”

Khattak also claimed that both Bajwa and retired Lieutenant-General Faiz Hameed “created an environment for elections, but Imran did not agree”.

Khattak further mentioned that he played a role in bringing around 60% of electives into PTI.

He warned that the PTI might face challenges in cases such as Toshakhana, cipher, Al-Qadir Trust, and the May 9 riots, which could potentially lead to the party’s ban on criminal charges.
