India to celebrate 14 Feb as cow hug day

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has issued a notice encouraging people to observe Cow Hug Day on February 14.

The AWBI claimed that doing so will promote the emotional richness and raise individual and community pleasure.

As per the Hindu report, the advisory committee said that Valentine’s Day is the dazzle of Western civilization in a plea to the public, adding that Vedic customs are virtually on the edge of extinction due to the advancement of Western culture through time.

“In view of the immense benefit of the cow, hugging with cow will bring emotional richness and hence will increase our individual & collective happiness. Therefore, all the cow lovers may also celebrate February 14 as Cow Hug day keeping in mind the importance of mother cow and making life happy and full of positive energy,” AWBI said.

The welfare board described the cow as the backbone of Indian culture and rural economy, adding that it symbolizes cattle richness and biodiversity.

The story also cited a member of the Dairy Farmers Federation of India who criticizes the AWBI for allegedly employing double standards.
