ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in attacking and robbing a part-time motorcycle rider in Burma Town, recovering the victim’s mobile phone and wallet.
The incident occurred on August 2, 2026, when Muhammad Shoaib, who works part-time as a bike rider, picked up a passenger and dropped him in the Burma Town area. According to Shoaib, the passenger attacked him with a dagger immediately after reaching the destination.
In a video statement, Shoaib said he was stabbed several times before the assailant fled with his motorcycle, mobile phone and wallet. He was subsequently provided medical treatment for his injuries.
Following the incident, Islamabad Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Police Station Shahzad Town later arrested the alleged suspect and recovered Shoaib’s mobile phone and wallet, according to the victim.
Expressing appreciation for the police action, Shoaib thanked the Shahzad Town police team for pursuing the case and apprehending the suspect.
Shoaib also urged motorcycle riders to exercise caution when accepting passengers, particularly those who approach them outside formal ride-hailing platforms. He advised riders to rely on online ride requests rather than accepting unknown passengers informally.
A photograph released by Islamabad Police showed the arrested suspect, whose face was covered, alongside a police officer. The recovered belongings, including cash and a mobile phone, were also displayed.
The police said they would continue taking action against street crime and working to improve the security of motorcycle riders and other workers operating across the capital.
