Japanese band The GazettE announces the death of bassist, Reita

The Japanese band the GazettE announced the passing of their bassist, Reita, on April 15th at the age of 42.

The announcement expressed deep sadness over the loss and emphasized Reita’s enduring passion for the band.

A small memorial service for close family members was mentioned, with no disclosure of the cause of death.

This news follows Reita’s last social media post on April 14th, expressing his hope for the band’s eternal existence.

Sadly, this comes after the band’s former drummer, Yune, also passed away at 42 in 2022 from a sudden illness.

The GazettE, known for their visual kei style, debuted in 2004 with “Disorder,” reaching number 19 on the Oricon Charts.

They’ve since released nine top 10 studio albums, performed at major Japanese venues, and completed a world tour in 2013.

Notable hits include “Leech,” “Distress and Coma,” and “Shiver,” the opening theme for the anime “Kuroshitsuji II.”

Celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2022, they released “Heterodoxy -Divided 3 Concepts-” on December 21st.
