Levies officer lost life in attack on polio workers

A Levies official was martyred after an armed man opened fire on a polio team in the Chaman district of Balochistan.

On Thursday, a levies representative was sent to ensure the safety of the polio team by giving anti-polio drops to youngsters under the age of five.

Habib ur Rehman, a citizen of Chaman, was named as the victim. When Levies and the police arrived, they began an inquiry into the incident.

The victim’s dead body was carried to the District Headquarters Hospital in Chaman, where the deputy commissioner of Chaman and other concerned officers arrived.

The DC stated, “This act of terrorism will not be spared and the perpetrators involved will be brought to justice.”

According to police reports, the perpetrators of the incident managed to escape the scene unharmed.

The deputy commissioner was instructed to submit a report regarding the attack by Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, who also severely denounced the assault.

In a statement made following the assault, Langove promised that those responsible will face punishment.

According to him, the government has promised to give security to the polio teams taking part in the campaign.

Balochistan health department has started a five-day anti-polio campaign to guarantee that youngsters receive the vaccine.

The campaign officially started on October 24. A police head constable who was manning the polio team in the Balochistan province of Pishin was shot and killed by armed terrorists two days before this attack in Chaman.
