Arrest of NADRA assistant director for illegally issuing Pakistani ID cards to Afghan nationals

The arrest of Assistant Director Najeebullah from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has stirred attention, following the cancellation of his pre-arrest bail by a Special Judge in Central Islamabad.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took action against Najeebullah after the revocation of his bail, based on accusations of unlawfully providing Pakistani identity cards to Afghan nationals.

Najeebullah, who held a position as Assistant Director at the NADRA Office in Blue Area, Islamabad, now faces charges in a case registered by the Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad. The allegations against him involve the illicit issuance of NADRA ID cards to Afghan citizens.

According to reports, Najeebullah purportedly facilitated the acquisition of Pakistani identity cards by Afghan nationals, charging them a hefty sum of Rs 250,000 per card. Such actions not only raise concerns about national security but also underscore the importance of upholding integrity and adherence to legal protocols within government institutions like NADRA.
