Military Courts Case referred again to ‘Practice & Procedure Committee’ by larger bench

The Supreme Court has once again referred the case regarding Military Courts to the Practice and Procedure Committee. The decision was made by a six-member larger bench led by Justice Aminuddin Khan after objections from the main petitioners.

During the hearing, Justice Musarat Hilali had an interesting exchange with Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, who stated that once the Supreme Court makes a decision, it cannot be altered. Justice Hilali reassured him that the court is well aware of its authority.

Journalist Hafeezullah Niazi became emotional during the hearing as he expressed concerns about his missing son, Hassaan Niazi. He pleaded with the court to help him locate his son, as he is unable to sleep at night.

The court instructed the Attorney General to look into the matter of Hassaan Niazi and provide updates. Additionally, lawyer Hamid Khan mentioned that a writ has also been filed, prompting discussion on whether a larger nine-member bench or the current six-member bench will hear the case.
