Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif convened a high-level meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and his team to tackle unresolved financial and developmental issues between the federal and provincial governments. The meeting, held at CM House in Karachi, saw the participation of federal ministers, provincial officials, and representatives from various organizations.
During the meeting, PM Shahbaz Sharif directed Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, and the Secretary of Communication to engage in discussions with the Sindh Chief Minister to promptly resolve all pending matters. Emphasizing the need for swift action, he reiterated his commitment to resolving lingering issues to facilitate the progress of developmental projects and address financial concerns effectively.
In a gesture of support, PM Shahbaz Sharif announced the allocation of 150 buses to enhance the Sindh transport department’s fleet. This initiative aims to bolster the public transportation system in the province and alleviate commuting challenges for residents.
Among the key issues discussed during the meeting were the arrears and shortfall in federal transfers to Sindh, funding for housing and school reconstruction projects, and allocation of funds for various development schemes. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah provided a detailed overview of these issues, highlighting the urgency of their resolution for the province’s welfare and development.
Furthermore, discussions also centered on projects awaiting approvals from the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). These projects, aimed at infrastructure development and public welfare, are crucial for advancing the socio-economic progress of Sindh.
Addressing concerns regarding tax deductions and refunds, CM Murad Ali Shah urged for the timely resolution of pending matters, emphasizing the importance of financial stability for the provincial government.
In response to the discussions, PM Shahbaz Sharif directed relevant authorities to expedite the resolution of outstanding issues and ensure effective collaboration between the federal and provincial governments. He underscored the significance of seamless coordination to address the challenges faced by the people of Sindh and promote sustainable development across the region.
