Nauman Niaz, Shoaib Akhtar patch up

After almost three weeks of the Nauman-Shoaib bickering and legal notices, both parties have agreed to settle down the issue and move on.

Former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar took to his Twitter and said that whatever had happened was an unpleasant incident on national television and it had hurt his sentiments, which is why it took him a while to respond.

“Taking a higher moral ground, I am accepting the apology of Dr. Nauman Niaz, let’s move on from this,” Akhtar added.

Pakistan Television Corporation’s (PTV) anchor Nauman Niaz on October 28, in a live show, asked Shoaib Akhtar to leave, which the cricketer and the fans did not take in a good light.

Following Niaz’s comments, the cricketer announced his resignation from the panel, subsequent to which PTV served him a legal notice.

According to the video on social media, Niaz apologized to Akhtar on Saturday at the residence of Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry. According to the details, the meeting was made possible by senior journalist and anchor Saleem Safi.

Shoaib Akhtar, while speaking to the media said, “I always wanted to settle this matter. Now he has apologized so we all should move on from this.”

Akhtar said, “PTV is also taking back the legal notice and I would like to thank the whole nation and my fans for standing up with me.”

It is worth mentioning here that the former fast bowler in the show gave credit to Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) Lahore Qalandars franchise for finding Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi, over which Niaz got furious and said, “You are being a little rude so I don t want to say this but if you’re being over-smart then you can go. I am saying this on air.”
