Pakistan women eye comeback against Windies as T20I series starts today

The Pakistan women’s cricket team aims to bounce back as they face off against the West Indies women’s cricket team in a series of five T20Is, starting tomorrow at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Having been whitewashed by the West Indies women’s team in the three-match ODI series, which was part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, held in Karachi from 18 to 23 April, the Pakistan team seeks redemption in the upcoming T20I matches.

The T20I series is set to commence at 7:30 pm, with the toss scheduled for 7:00 pm. Subsequent matches will be held on 28 April, 30 April, 2 May, and 3 May.

Similar to the ODI series, the T20I matches will be broadcast live on A Sports HD and Geo Super, and also streamed live on ARY ZAP, Tamasha, and Tapmad across the country.

Female fans and families can enter the stadium free of charge and enjoy the game from the Javed Miandad Enclosure.

Nida Dar, captain of the Pakistan women’s team, expressed disappointment with their ODI series performance and emphasized the team’s determination to rectify mistakes and deliver a strong performance in the T20I series, especially with the World Cup approaching.

Hayley Matthews, captain of the West Indies women’s team, expressed satisfaction with their ODI series performance and looks forward to maintaining their momentum in the T20I series, acknowledging Pakistan’s competitiveness in the format.

In officiating roles, Claire Polosak of Australia will serve as the on-field umpire, accompanied by Faisal Afridi, Farooq Ali Khan, and Tariq Rasheed.

Afia Amin, Humairah Farah, and Saleema Imtiaz will serve as fourth umpires, with Muhammad Javed Malik leading the match officials’ panel.

The Pakistan T20I squad includes Nida Dar (captain), Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Gull Feroza, Muneeba Ali (wk), Najiha Alvi (wk), Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Tuba Hassan, and Umm-e-Hani.

The West Indies squad comprises Hayley Matthews (captain), Shemaine Campbelle (vice-captain), Aaliyah Alleyne, Afy Fletcher, Chedean Nation, Cherry Ann Fraser, Chinelle Henry, Jannillea Glasgow, Karishma Ramharack, Kate Wilmott, Qiana Joseph, Rashada Williams, Shamilia Connell, Stafanie Taylor, and Zaida James.
