Nawaz Sharif cleared in Tosha Khana vehicles case

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has requested the court to acquit former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the reference related to Tosha Khana vehicles.

During a hearing in the Accountability Court of Islamabad, NAB submitted a report stating that the car gifted to Nawaz Sharif by the government of Saudi Arabia in 1997 was later bought by him from the Federal Transport Pool, not from Tosha Khana. NAB has appealed for Nawaz Sharif to be clear in the Tosha Khana reference based on this information.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari’s lawyer argued for presidential immunity and requested the case against co-accused Abdul Ghani Majeed and Anwar Majeed to be dropped.

The court has adjourned the hearing until May 7 and will further examine the matter at the next hearing. This development comes after the accountability court had sought a NAB report on the reference against Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Yusuf Raza Gilani, and others related to receiving valuable vehicles and gifts from Tosha Khana.
