North Waziristan: Soldier martyred during shootout, ISPR

A soldier was martyred during a gunfight between militants and security personnel in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement released by the military’s media wing on Friday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the security forces and terrorists engaged in a firefight in Mir Ali’s general vicinity. The troops engaged the terrorists’ location valiantly and efficiently.

“However, during an intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Irshad Ullah (age 29 years, resident of District Karak), having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat. Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area,” the ISPR stated.

The military’s media wing stated that the security forces were committed to eradicating the threat of terrorism and that the brave soldiers’ sacrifices strengthened their commitment.

Separately, two terrorists were injured and one terrorist was killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) that has been going on in Balochistan since March 30.

According to the ISPR, the operation was started to apprehend a group of militants hiding out at Noshman, south of Sibi.

The terrorists were allegedly suspected of harassing coal mine owners and attacking citizens, according to the military’s media wing.
