Members of the opposition party Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) are taking steps to secure the position of Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
SIC members Zain Qureshi, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Hamid Raza met with the Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) to discuss the setup of parliamentary committees.
According to sources, the opposition put forward Hamid Raza as a candidate for the PAC chairmanship during their meeting with the Speaker.
The Speaker of the National Assembly informed the opposition that the PAC chairperson would be elected following the established rules. “I want the parliamentary committees to address the issue through mutual agreement,” the Speaker stated to the opposition members.
