Pakistan Bar Council suspends Mashal Yousafzai’s license again

The Pakistan Bar Council has taken action to suspend the advocacy license of Mashaal Yousafzai once again, an advisor to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

This decision overturns the order issued by the Chairman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council. The move comes in response to allegations against Yousafzai for disseminating negative content targeting the judiciary and the legal profession, sparking significant backlash from the legal community.

Initially, the Disciplinary Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council had suspended Yousafzai’s license, citing misconduct. Yousafzai faced severe criticism from fellow lawyers for his alleged actions.

However, upon Yousafzai’s appeal, the Chairman of the KP Bar Council, Shah Faisal Atman Khel, intervened and suspended the Disciplinary Committee’s decision.

In response to this suspension, the Secretary of the KP Bar Council escalated the matter to the Pakistan Bar Council, which subsequently upheld the appeal. The Pakistan Bar Council asserted that the Chairman of the Provincial Bar Council lacked the authority to halt the proceedings of the Disciplinary Committee.

Consequently, the decision of the Chairman of the KP Bar Council has been suspended until further notice, reinstating the suspension of Yousafzai’s license.
