Pakistan intelligence alleges RAW-Taliban network behind attacks in Balochistan

Pakistani intelligence officials have alleged the existence of a coordinated network involving India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)

RAWALPINDI, September 20, 2026:  Pakistani intelligence officials have alleged the existence of a coordinated network involving India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), senior Afghan Taliban figures and militant groups operating in Pakistan, claiming that the network has been used to finance, train and facilitate attacks, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the report, Pakistani intelligence sources claim that RAW contributed more than $7.8 million to support coordinated activities involving the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The document reportedly details a series of meetings held during May, July and August 2026, where discussions allegedly focused on financing, weapons, training and logistical support for militant operations. Pakistani sources claim that Afghan territory was used for training and sheltering militants.

According to the reported intelligence assessment, representatives of BLA, TTP and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were involved in discussions concerning manpower, weapons and operational coordination. The document also reportedly links the network to preparations for attacks inside Pakistan.

The allegations come amid continued militant violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Pakistani authorities have repeatedly accused India of supporting militant activity inside the country, while India has rejected such accusations.

The government has also cited recent security operations as evidence of intensified counterterrorism efforts. The Director General Inter-Services Public Relations has reported a large number of intelligence-based operations and militant casualties in recent months, while Security Forces have continued operations in areas including Hangu and North Waziristan.

In a separate development, Punjab’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said it conducted 158 intelligence-based operations across the province during the past month and arrested 23 suspected militants. The department said one of those arrested in Sahiwal was allegedly linked to RAW, while the remaining suspects were linked to banned organisations.

The CTD said explosives, seven improvised explosive devices, 26 detonators and 48 feet of safety fuse wire were recovered during the operations. Twenty-two terrorism-related cases were also registered against the arrested suspects, according to officials.

The department further reported that 4,601 combing operations were carried out across Punjab during the same period. Authorities said 166,553 people were checked, while 402 suspects were arrested during these operations.

The latest intelligence allegations have added another dimension to Pakistan’s claims regarding cross-border militant networks and foreign support for terrorism. However, the reported allegations remain claims by Pakistani intelligence officials, and the details of the classified document have not been independently verified.

India and the Afghan Taliban have rejected similar accusations of cooperation in attacks against Pakistan. The Taliban has also denied allegations that Afghan territory is being used to support attacks inside Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities say counterterrorism operations will continue as investigations into suspected militant networks and their alleged sources of financing and logistical support proceed.
