Pakistan joins the chorus urging for prompt action on the UN resolution on Gaza

The United Nations Security Council’s recent resolution urging for a Ramadan ceasefire in Gaza has garnered significant attention, with Pakistan joining the chorus for its swift implementation. The resolution, which also calls for the immediate release of all prisoners, has been endorsed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who emphasized its crucial role in achieving a ceasefire and ensuring detainees’ freedom.

Pakistan’s UN ambassador echoed this sentiment, stressing the urgent need to bolster humanitarian aid and safeguard civilians in Gaza. The resolution is seen as a pivotal step towards halting Israel’s campaign in Gaza and advancing a comprehensive solution for Palestine.

Mozambique’s envoy expressed satisfaction with the resolution’s adoption, emphasizing the urgent necessity for a ceasefire and prisoner release. While the resolution is deemed binding by the UN and many member states, the US’s assertion of its non-binding nature has sparked debate.

China welcomed the resolution, highlighting the binding nature of Security Council resolutions and urging all parties to fulfill their obligations. With global support mounting, the resolution signifies a concerted effort towards achieving peace and stability in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan.
