Pakistan take on Kiwis today to launch ICC T20 World Cup preparations

Today, Pakistan begins their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 with a match against New Zealand at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

This match marks the first of a five-game series, with subsequent matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the same venue, followed by two matches at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium next week.

This series, the third between the two teams within a year, follows a drawn series in Pakistan last year and New Zealand’s victory earlier this year.

Pakistan’s 17-player squad includes newcomers Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Irfan Khan, and Usman Khan, as well as the return of Babar Azam as captain.

Additionally, Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, and Naseem Shah return to national colors.

Azhar Mahmood assumes the role of head coach for the first time, with the toss scheduled for 7:00 pm local time and the match at 7:30 pm.

Both captains, Babar Azam and Michael Bracewell, expressed their anticipation for the series, highlighting its importance as preparation for the upcoming World Cup.
