Paul McCartney has recalled performing The Beatles’ hit song “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, saying Swift had asked him to sing at the ceremony.
McCartney discussed the performance during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, where he also recalled inviting Swift to join him on stage.
The ceremony was held at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3, according to the original report.
“I said, you should sing along, and you should sing it to your man,” McCartney said, drawing laughter from the audience.
PEOPLE previously reported that McCartney performed the 1964 Beatles song at the wedding.
Stevie Nicks, who has a longstanding relationship with Swift, also performed at the ceremony, according to PEOPLE.
It was not clear from the report whether Swift joined McCartney for the song. Kelce, however, later received praise from his brother Jason Kelce for his singing.
Jason Kelce discussed his brother’s singing during a July 21 episode of the “Ross Tucker Football Podcast.”
“Yeah, Trav can sing. Trav has always been able to carry a tune,” Jason Kelce said. He added that Kelce’s performance was not comparable with some of the other singers at the wedding but said his brother “did okay.”
McCartney and Swift have previously been seen together in connection with Swift’s music career. McCartney attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts at Wembley Stadium in 2024.
McCartney, 82 at the time, is a former member of the Beatles and one of the band’s principal songwriters.
