PM, JI chief stress need to resolve issues with collective wisdom

Federal cabinet meeting postponed due to PM's Lahore trip

A three-member delegation led by Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Siraj ul Haq here on Saturday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the current political situation in the country and judicial crisis came under discussion, the PM Office Media Wing said in a press release. The leaders agreed that issues facing the country should be resolved with the collective wisdom. Minister for Economic Affairs Division Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique were also present during the meeting.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday here held a meeting with his Special Assistant Jawad Sohrab Malik. The Special Assistant briefed the prime minister in detail about the completion of the tasks assigned to him. He lauded the prime minister for his steps taken for the restoration of the economy of Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction at the briefing given by Jawad Sohrab.

Separately, a meeting of the federal cabinet, which was scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s busy schedule in Lahore.

The premier had convened a special meeting of the federal cabinet today in the wake of the country’s recent political and constitutional crises. It was set to be held at the Prime Minister Office at 1:00pm under the chairmanship of the prime minister. The federal cabinet was to hold consultations on important national issues including ongoing political situation arising from the Supreme Court decisions regarding holding of elections in Punjab.
