PM Khan to address nation today after SC restores NA, no-trust motion

Premier says he always has and will continue to fight for country till last ball

After the historic Supreme Court judgment, which gave the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government a major setback, Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to fight for Pakistan “till the last ball”.

In a tweet, PM Khan announced that he would address the nation once again this evening (Friday). His statement read:

“I have called a cabinet mtg [sic] tomorrow as well as our parliamentary party meeting, and tomorrow evening I will address the nation. My message to our nation is I have always and will continue to fight for Pakistan till the last ball.”

The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued the order to restore the National Assembly after declaring the government’s decision to dissolve the assembly and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling to be in violation of the constitution.

The apex court ordered National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser to summon the session of the house on Saturday (April 9), not later than 10:30am and hold a vote on the no-confidence motion tabled against the premier.

PM Khan will also convene a meeting of the federal cabinet and PTI’s parliamentary party to decide the future course of action today. The meeting will deliberate on the current political situation in the country and hold consultation regarding the foreign “threat letter”.
