PM Shehbaz arrives in Riyadh for WEF special gathering

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif landed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday to attend a special meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on ‘Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development,’ scheduled from April 28-29.

The Deputy Governor of the Riyadh region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Bin Abdul Aziz, along with Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia and embassy officials, welcomed the prime minister and his delegation at the Riyadh Royal Airport.

PM Shehbaz was extended the invitation to the WEF meeting by Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman, Professor Klaus Schwab.

“A high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, accompanied the Prime Minister. They will partake in WEF deliberations concerning trade and investment measures, novel investment frameworks, supply chain restructuring, sustainable growth, and the energy landscape,” stated the Foreign Office Spokesperson.

Prime Minister Sharif’s primary objective during the event is to advocate Pakistan’s perspective on global health, financial technologies, information technology, comprehensive development, regional collaboration, and sustainable energy usage in the context of global development.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz will highlight the ample investment opportunities available in Pakistan at the WEF summit. Moreover, he is anticipated to hold bilateral discussions with influential global leaders, heads of international organizations, and other prominent personalities on the sidelines of the forum.

According to a WEF press release, approximately 1,000 leaders from business, government, and academia will attend the Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development, focusing on devising new strategies to revitalize global growth amidst the challenges posed by an increasingly fragmented geopolitical and economic landscape.
