ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Spain on winning the FIFA World Cup 2026, praising the team’s outstanding performance and describing its victory as the result of determination, discipline and exceptional teamwork throughout the tournament.

In his congratulatory message, the prime minister said the Spanish national team displayed remarkable consistency and high-quality football from the beginning of the competition until the final. He noted that Spain’s success reflected the players’ unity, commitment and dedication on the field.

Shehbaz Sharif said the Spanish team deserved the world title for maintaining an impressive standard of play and demonstrating excellent coordination during every stage of the tournament. He added that the victory would remain a memorable achievement in the country’s sporting history.

The prime minister also congratulated US President Donald Trump and the people of the United States for successfully hosting one of the biggest sporting events in the world. He appreciated the efforts made to organise the tournament and ensure its smooth and successful completion.

He also acknowledged the important role played by the governments and people of Mexico and Canada, saying their partnership and cooperation contributed significantly to the successful organisation of the FIFA World Cup.
