PM Shehbaz Sharif optimistic as economic conditions show signs of improvement

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence in the recent economic progress achieved through two months of collective efforts, highlighting the promising trajectory toward economic stability.

During a federal cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, significant decisions were made to address pressing issues and streamline administrative processes.

Among the decisions made, the Federal Cabinet approved the establishment of a specialized court in the Makran Division to tackle anti-narcotics cases, extending crucial support in combating drug-related offenses. Additionally, the validity of the Proof of Registration (POR) card for Afghan refugees was extended until June 30, 2024, providing essential relief and stability for affected individuals and families.

During the cabinet session, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raised concerns regarding the efficacy of the track and trace system, labeling it as fraudulent. In response, an inquiry committee was promptly formed to investigate the matter, reflecting the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Furthermore, the cabinet directed efforts toward enhancing agricultural practices by formulating a comprehensive drone policy aimed at leveraging drone technology in the agriculture sector. Additionally, measures were outlined to bolster the judiciary by appointing judges of reputable stature to specialized courts, ensuring effective legal proceedings.

In addressing the economic landscape, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the need to curb electricity theft and fortify the transmission infrastructure to minimize losses. He emphasized the government’s dedication to implementing reforms to reduce electricity costs and enhance operational efficiency.

Regarding the track and trace system, the Prime Minister lamented its failure and highlighted the missed revenue opportunities due to negligence and collusion. He pledged to hold accountable those responsible for undermining the system and vowed to restore integrity to the national treasury.
