PM suspends Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa to be appointed

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in an administrative move on Thursday, has opted for a change in leadership by removing Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Captain (Rtd) Anwaar-ul-Haq, from his current post.

The decision, as per media speculations, is poised to pave the way for the potential appointment of Muhammad Ali Randhawa as the new Chief Commissioner of Islamabad. Randhawa, a distinguished Grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, is reportedly being considered for the role.

In correspondence with the Secretary Establishment Division, Admin Ghulam Murtaza, acting on behalf of the Ministry of Interior, has officially communicated the intent to bring about this change. Specifically, the Ministry of Interior has expressed its desire to utilize the expertise and capabilities of Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who currently serves as the Commissioner in Lahore under the Punjab Government.

The proposal is to entrust his services either to the Ministry of Interior for the role of Chief Commissioner in Islamabad or to the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
