PML-N sitting to mull strategy amid wheat crisis, PM to attend meeting

The central leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is set to convene at the party’s Model Town Secretariat to address the ongoing wheat purchase crisis in Punjab.

This gathering, slated to commence at 2 pm, will witness the participation of prominent figures including Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, alongside key members like Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah, and Khawaja Asif.

The primary agenda of the meeting revolves around formulating strategic responses to alleviate the wheat procurement challenges facing the province.

Additionally, discussions will extend to matters concerning the internal restructuring of the party and preparations for the forthcoming PML-N general council meeting scheduled for May 11.

Notably, Nawaz Sharif has underscored the importance of holding individuals accountable for their role in exacerbating the wheat crisis, a stance reiterated during a previous consultative session held on Friday.

During that meeting, Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin provided insights into the origins of the crisis, attributing responsibility to those involved in the importation of wheat from overseas.

As the party gathers today, it seeks to navigate through these multifaceted challenges and chart a course toward addressing the pressing concerns of the populace.
