Police station ransacked following alleged brutality

Transgenders in Gujarat took drastic action against perceived police brutality, resulting in the ransacking of a local police station and the mistreatment of its staff.

The incident unfolded after law enforcement officers allegedly subjected a transgender named Hira and her male companion to verbal abuse and torture during a routine stop and search operation in Kharian.

Following the ordeal, Hira and her companion were left at the Sadar police station, where they were reportedly further mistreated before being released.

Outraged by the incident, transgenders from Khariyan mobilized and stormed the police station, causing extensive damage to property and staging a protest that disrupted traffic on the G-road.

Subsequently, authorities took action, with the District Police Officer (DPO) of Gujarat suspending the implicated policemen accused of mistreating the transgender individuals, as confirmed by the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) Bilal Shah.
