Islamabad: Significant progress has been made in the case of blocking 500,000 SIMs by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has opposed the blocking of mobile sims for not filing tax returns and PTA has written to the FBR regarding considering alternative options.
PTA stated that SIMs should not be blocked to avoid legal complications as men in Pakistan often use sims issued in the names of women and children.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has warned that blocking sims will have negative impacts on digital transformation and foreign investment.
