PTA announces establishment of district-level mobile network companies in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unveiled plans to establish district-level mobile network companies across the country, marking a pivotal decision aimed at enhancing connectivity and accessibility.

Alongside this development, the PTA has also announced the issuance of new licenses and revisions in fees for the provision of internet and cable services, underlining the regulatory body’s commitment to advancing telecommunications infrastructure and services nationwide.

Under the directive, the PTA will facilitate the establishment of mobile network companies at the district level, thereby decentralizing access to telecommunications services and promoting widespread coverage.

This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of bridging the digital divide and ensuring equitable access to communication technologies, particularly in underserved areas.

By fostering competition and innovation at the local level, these district-level mobile network companies are poised to drive economic growth and empower communities through enhanced connectivity.

In addition to facilitating the establishment of new mobile network companies, the PTA has introduced amendments to licensing regulations, streamlining the process for acquiring licenses and adjusting associated fees.

These measures are designed to promote a conducive regulatory environment for telecommunications providers, encouraging investment and expansion in the sector.

Moreover, the PTA emphasizes compliance with regulations pertaining to broadcasting and telecommunications, prioritizing national security interests and safeguarding Pakistan’s cultural heritage and international relations.
