Asad Umar says entire country watched PTI members resign, all resignations should be accepted together

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has alleged that the Election Commission of Pakistan had become part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement alliance as it filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the decision of the electoral body to accept resignations of 11 members of the National Assembly (NA).

Secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Asad Umar has said that a petition was filed in the IHC against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for accepting the resignations of 11 members of NA of their choice.

In a twitter message on Monday, Asad Umar said that the PTI members had resigned from the assembly, which was witnessed by the entire country.

In his tweet, PTI’s secretary general demanded that all resignations should be accepted together.

Earlier, talking to media outside the IHC, Asad Umar had said that the court was approached against the acceptance of resignations of 11 members. He added that 125 PTI members of assembly had resigned on April 11 and those resignations were accepted by then deputy speaker Qasim Khan Suri on April 13.

He went on to say that the resignations were given as a result of alleged foreign interference leading to the ouster of PTI government.

ECP had de-notified 11 PTI MNAs after the approval of resignations from Speaker NA Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. Ali Muhammad Khan, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Shaukat Ali, Fakhar Zaman Khan, Farrukh Habib, Ijaz Ahmad Shah, Jamil Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Akram Cheema, Abdul Shakoor Shad, Shireen Mazari, Shandana Gulzar Khan had been de-notified.
