PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has expressed outrage following media reports that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had accepted the resignations of additional PTI lawmakers.

According to NA authorities, Ashraf accepted further resignations and handed them to the Pakistani Election Commission (ECP). On the other hand, there has been no formal confirmation.

In response to the development, Chaudhry
tweeted that Raja Riaz’s removal as the opposition leader was the goal of PTI MPs returning to the assembly.

“Otherwise, there is no need for us to come back to the National Assembly,” he added in a tweet.

He further added that Shehbaz Sharif’s administration had now lost the backing of 172 legislators.

Additionally, he mentioned that 40% of the NA’s seats were now vacant claiming that elections are the only way to resolve this situation.

The current development comes a day after 45 PTI MNAs urged that a new opposition leader be nominated from among them and handed their handwritten resignation to the speaker via email.
