Punjab Assembly has been dissolved

I have decided not to become part of process leading to dissolution of Punjab Assembly, says Governor

The Punjab Assembly has been dissolved as Governor avoids signing the summary letting the Constitution take its way.

As per details, Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi sent a summary for the dissolution of the assembly to Governor Baleegh-ur-Rehman two days ago.

According to the procedure, the governor had to sign the summary within 48 hours otherwise it would have stood automatically dissolved.

Now, in the latest development, the governor has avoided signing the summary, therefore the assembly has automatically stood dissolved after the completion of 48 hours of the receipt of CM’s summary.

Taking to Twitter Baleegh-ur-Rehman tweeted, “I have decided not to become part of the process leading to the dissolution of Punjab Assembly.”

He further stated in the tweet,” I would rather let the Constitution and law take its own course. Doing so will not hamper any legal process as Constitution clearly provides a way forward.”
