Punjab poultry traders association calls for complete shutdown

Lahore – The Punjab Poultry Traders Association has announced a complete shutdown strike starting from 5 PM today.

In the wake of increasing inflation, the scarcity of goods has become a headache. Despite adjustments in the official rate list, live broiler supply has not been resolved leading shopkeepers to refrain from accepting supplies.

It is worth recalling that even yesterday, when prices were reduced in the official rate list, shopkeepers did not accept supplies resulting in the closure of many broiler shops in the city.

Once again this morning, broiler shopkeepers refrained from accepting supplies.

Shopkeepers maintain that they will only accept supplies if the supply rates match the government’s nominal rates. They cannot sell expensive supplies at lower prices.

Due to the dispute over rates, broiler shops in various areas of the city including Garhi Shahu, Daroghawala, Salamatpura, Kareem Chowk, Shalimar Bagh, Shadbagh and Islampura are closed.

Due to expensive supplies, the Punjab Poultry Traders Association has announced a complete shutdown strike starting from 5 PM today.

President of the Punjab Poultry Association, Tariq Javaid stated that those shopkeepers who have accepted supplies should refrain from lifting them after 5 PM today as they cannot bear the losses. The government should improve the supply or adjust the rate list according to the supply.

It is clear that the supply of live broiler is priced at Rs. 463 per kilogram in the government rate list while in the market, live broilers are being supplied at Rs. 495 per kilogram with an increase of Rs. 32.
