Rain forecast, regions on alert from April 25 to 29

The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast indicating the likelihood of rain accompanied by strong winds, hail, and thunder across various parts of the country from April 25 to 29.

This prediction has prompted the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to instruct relevant agencies to remain vigilant and prepared to address any emergency situations that may arise.

According to meteorological projections, specific districts, including Nushki, Pashin, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan, Gwadar, Kech, and Awaran, face the risk of flooding between April 26 and 27. Similarly, during April 27 and 28, local rivers in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, and Kohistan are expected to swell due to heavy rainfall, potentially leading to flood-related challenges.

In addition to flooding concerns, landslides are anticipated in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Guliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit during April 27 to 29. The NDMA has urged provincial disaster management authorities and other administrative bodies to maintain a state of alertness to effectively respond to any emergencies.

As precautionary measures, farmers are advised to plan their crop harvesting schedules, particularly for wheat, in alignment with the prevailing weather conditions. The NDMA spokesperson has cautioned tourists and travelers against unnecessary journeys, especially in mountainous regions, emphasizing the importance of staying informed about weather forecasts and route conditions.

Precautions such as avoiding crossings over swollen rivers and steering clear of hazardous areas prone to flooding have been emphasized to ensure public safety.

Furthermore, individuals are advised to take proactive steps to safeguard their properties, including ensuring waterproofing of roofs, basements, and external walls, as well as maintaining proper drainage systems. Timely repairs of cracks in structures are also recommended to mitigate potential damage during the rainy season.
