A petition was submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC) opposing the recent rise in petroleum product prices.

Advocate Azhar Siddique filed the petition, expressing concern that the government’s decision to increase prices would exacerbate inflation.

Siddique argued in the petition that the recent price hike couldn’t be justified as global prices remained stable. He urged the court to nullify the recent price hikes.

The case involves the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the federal government, and other relevant bodies.

The government’s decision to raise petrol prices by Rs 4.53 per liter and diesel prices by Rs 8.14 per liter overnight has stirred controversy.

As per the Ministry of Finance’s notification, petrol will now cost Rs 293.94 per liter, and High-Speed Diesel will be priced at Rs 290.38 per liter after the increases.
