Roedad Khan passes away

Mr Roedad Khan, former secretary general interior passed away peacefully on Sunday April 21. He was laid to rest at H11 graveyard in Islamabad. His funeral was attended by family, friends & admirers from all walks of life.

Mr Roedad Khan, who died at the age of 101, was a towering personality and has left an enduring legacy. He attained top most positions in the civil service of Pakistan including Secretary General Interior.

A man with a purpose & a mission, he embarked on a second career after his retirement.
He became a civil society activist, writer and historian. He pioneered environment protection for Pakistan.

As Founder of the Margalla Hills Society, he single-handedly created the beautiful walking trails of Islamabad. An avid student of history, Mr Khan painstakingly researched and authored books including the American Papers and the British Papers.

An inspirational individual, Mr Roedad Khan became a bold activist for human rights, democracy & civil liberties. A man of courage and commitment who maintained relationships regardless of personal risk.

With his departure a piece of Pakistan’s history is gone. His legacy of service lives on.
